Renault Duster Hybrid
Renault Duster is back in India, and it has brought a massive technological upgrade along for the ride. Renault Group India has officially introduced the New Renault Duster Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160, blending the classic ruggedness of the beloved SUV with cutting-edge, Formula 1-inspired hybrid efficiency.
Designed as a direct, highly efficient alternative to traditional diesel SUVs, the new Duster E-Tech promises electric-first urban driving, outstanding performance, and class-leading fuel economy—all without the need to ever plug in.
F1 Innovation Meets Everyday Utility
At the core of the new Duster is Renault’s globally proven E-Tech hybrid powertrain, backed by over 200 patents and a decade of EV research. Rather than relying on a complex plug-in setup, the Duster E-Tech uses a self-charging system that recharges its high-energy-density 1.4 kWh lithium-ion battery through intelligent regenerative braking and engine generation.
Powertrain Breakdown:
•
1.8-Litre Petrol Engine: 4-cylinder, Atkinson-cycle engine featuring a 350-bar direct fuel injection system, generating 110 PS on its own.
•
Dual Electric Motors: A main traction motor (50 PS) delivering instant electric torque and a high-voltage starter-generator for seamless gear synchronization and battery management.
•
Total Output: A best-in-segment combined power output of 160 PS and 208 Nm of peak motor torque.
•
0–100 km/h: Acceleration in 9.61 seconds.
The real engineering marvel lies in the Formula 1-inspired multi-mode automatic gearbox. Combining 2 electric gears and 4 petrol gears, the system offers 15 distinct drive combinations across six intelligent operating modes (All-Electric, Petrol-Only, Series, Series-Parallel, Energy Recovery, and Engine Charging).
The vehicle always starts silently in pure EV mode. Drivers can also engage B Mode on the gear selector to boost regenerative braking for downhill driving or heavy traffic, or use E-Save mode to hold battery charge for later city travel.
Diesel-Beating Efficiency and Range
For buyers stepping away from diesel, the Duster Strong Hybrid delivers metrics that easily rival and surpass traditional oil-burners:
•
ARAI-Certified Mileage: Best-in-class 29 km/l.
•
Driving Range: Over 1,400+ km on a single tank
•
City EV Driving: Up to 80% of urban journeys completed in pure electric mode.
•
Savings & Emissions: Up to 29% lower fuel costs compared to diesel, up to 52% higher city mileage, and a 40% reduction in CO2 emissions per kilometer.
Built for Adventure, Styled for the Modern Road
While the technological heart is brand new, the Duster retains its muscular SUV identity. Up front, it commands attention with a fresh illuminated DUSTER logo integrated directly into the front grille.
Rugged Off-Road Credentials
•
Ground Clearance: 212 mm

Approach Angle: 26.9°
•
Departure Angle: 34.7°
