New Generation Nexon Spied
Tata cars is working on a major overhaul for its bestselling sub-compact SUV. A heavily camouflaged test mule of the next-generation Tata Nexon was recently spotted undergoing road testing, including multiple test mules spotted testing together.
1. Boxier Exterior Styling & Stance
While the test mule retains the signature sub-4-metre compact SUV silhouette, several key visual updates are visible through the camouflage:
•
Taller, Boxier Stance: The prototype shows a more upright, muscular front fascia with a taller bonnet line and a boxier roof profile, promising improved interior headroom.
•
Revised Split-Headlight Setup: Tata’s signature split-lighting continues, featuring updated, sharper LED DRLs on top and restyled main headlamp clusters mounted lower on the bumper.
•
Fresh Alloy Wheels: Recent spy shots show prototype units featuring brand-new alloy wheel designs, with earlier mules even sporting multi-spoke wheels borrowed from the Tata Curvv.
•
Redesigned Rear: The back end keeps the raked windscreen but introduces a restyled rear design.
2. Mechanical & Chassis Upgrades
The biggest highlights from the recent sightings lie under the skin:
•
Rear Disc Brakes: Observation of the test mules reveals rear disc brakes, indicating enhanced stopping power across higher trim levels.
3. Multiple Powertrain Options likely (ICE & EV Spied)
Tata Cars continues its multi-powertrain strategy for the Nexon lineup:
•
Petrol, Diesel & CNG: The next-gen model is expected to carry forward the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine options, paired with manual and automatic transmissions, along with a dual-cylinder Turbo CNG variant. Also there is a possibility of 1.2 Hyperion - Turbo GDi.
•
Next-Gen Nexon EV: Sightings of a test mule with visible underbody battery housing and high-voltage orange wiring indicate that the next-generation Nexon EV is being developed right alongside its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart. The EV model is expected to feature optimized e-Drive components, faster charging speeds, and improved thermal management for higher real-world range with a optional larger battery pack
4. Interior & Tech Expectations
While the interior remains mostly covered in spy photos, the cabin is set to receive key feature upgrades:
•
A refreshed dashboard layout with digital screens.
•
Upgraded upholstery and a revised two-spoke or four-spoke steering wheel.
•
ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) features on top-tier variants
•
Wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a 360-degree camera system, and 6 airbags standard across variants.
Launch Timeline
With prototype testing underway in full force, the next-generation Tata Nexon lineup is anticipated to make its official debut around first half of 2027.
